Alleged Stalker Asked: 'However What If I Could Be Madeleine?'
A woman charged with stalking Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a phone message which questioned: "what if I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has persistently claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are facing charges charged with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, the tribunal was told communication data and information recovered from phones documented Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during 2023 and 2024.
Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most covered missing child cases and remains unresolved.
'I Don't Want Money'
A separate phone message, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt declaring: "I understand I'm fat and unattractive like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I know."
While another instance of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's voicemail expressed: "Suppose there is a small chance that I'm her? Then what? Isn't that crucial for you?"
"I do not need money, I maintain a living here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," she added.
The jury was told that by means of electronic messages, SMS messages and calls, Ms Wandelt asked for a genetic test, transmitted youth pictures to her phone in a bid to show a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "flashbacks" from a youth with the McCanns.
Robert Jones, an investigator with the police force who compiled the data, informed the court there "showed no any answers" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt furthermore contacted family friends of the McCanns, as per the phone records.
On that date, Gerry McCann responded to a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "a wrong number."
During that incident Ms Wandelt deposited a voicemail on Mrs McCann's voicemail declaring "I won't give up and I plan to establish my position."
The court was informed the co-defendant established a association via internet with Ms Wandelt before joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in that area in December 2024.
Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had communicated using communication app to Mrs McCann to express the media had characterized Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she deserved to be taken seriously in the time before the visit to that location, that area, in December 2024.
The court learned correspondence between the two defendants, in that autumn, considering trying to acquire Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from silverware at a restaurant.
"We need to take action," the co-defendant told Ms Wandelt.
On the night of the trip to their home, the defendant transmitted a message which said: "We're currently sat near the McCanns' house with our headlights off like detectives. I desired to achieve this with Peter Andrew I hadn't anticipated I would be doing that with the McCanns."
The case ongoing.
