Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Unavailable

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
