Wilfried Nancy insisted he had no concerns about losing his job, maintaining, “The team is extremely close to a turnaround,” despite edging perilously close to being fired with a heavy setback against Rangers.

Another Capitulation Results in Derby Defeat

The Hoops were in front their oldest rivals at the break but a second-half capitulation let Rangers to move level on points with the defending Scottish Premiership champions. Nancy, who was brought in in December, has now presided over six setbacks in his last eight matches.

“The level we had at stages was really, really, really high. That happened. I could not speak so positively if it was untrue. But that’s why, in terms of results, I said this is the same story. That’s why I believe we are really close to getting it right. Right now: details, details, details.”

“We produced many, many good things that we did, as was the case today. The issue now is sustaining it. My narrative would change the same. This is why I firmly believe the team can to get back on track.”

Röhl’s Cautious Stance

The victorious boss played down talk of a serious challenge in spite of what appeared to be a statement victory. “We take it game by game, and we can really build up momentum,” he said. “The confidence in the group is outstanding.”
