Eulogies Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt ready to share openly about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can now express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the film, commenting that he cannot recall "a single day without laughter".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles court official agreed to prevent the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A legal directive placed a security hold on the cases to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a public database citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
