Passenger services have restarted at Edinburgh Airport after a major ATC system failure grounded all flights.

All aircraft movements were suspended after an technical fault that occurred at about 08:30.

A number of travelers reported being stuck in aircraft on the tarmac while the issue persisted.

Operations Restart with Residual Impact

The airport confirmed at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "cooperation and patience".

That said, considerable delays are expected to persist for some time. Services bound for London Gatwick, Bristol, Amsterdam and Frankfurt have been cancelled, with numerous other services facing hold-ups.

Officials had earlier anticipated that dozens of flights could be impacted.
