Iran Reports Attack on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
