President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Attacked Military Soldiers to White House
Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.
He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were âdevastatedâ.
Background on the Devastating Incident
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.
Memorials across the state have taken place in their memory.
White House Offer
The commander-in-chief said heâs discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the state Guard.
âI said: âWhen youâre prepared, because thatâs a tough thing, come to the White House. Weâre going to pay tribute to her,â Trump told journalists. âAnd similarly with him, recover or not.â
Community Response
Attendees came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of the presidentâs federal initiative to assist policing efforts in DC.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
âShe was the individual that instructors wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,â Jarrod Hankins, the principal of her alma mater, informed the press. âShe was kind, considerate and always eager to assist people.â
Memorial plans for Sarah are still being arranged.
Judicial Measures and Government Changes
Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with one count of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The event prompted the administration to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop granting visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of the Airman
Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.
He remains under medical supervision and is âfighting for his lifeâ, West Virginia leader the governor said on television.
Attorney general Bondi stated on the program that she aimed to meet with the family.
Memory of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with excellence, per the state guard.
âShe had a lot of kindness and she certainly had fortitude,â he told the gathering at the service. âThough her time lasted far too short, she has left a mark thatâs going to be remembered always.â
