The former president's Granddaughter Seeks Professional Guidance from Tiger Woods Before LPGA First Appearance
The rising star maintains impressive social media presence
Kai Trump can count on multiple prominent backers when she starts her professional golf debut this Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be related to Donald Trump, obtained a tournament invitation to participate at Florida's Annika event in Florida.
Her grandfather, a passionate golfer, owns numerous courses worldwide and frequently matches against his granddaughter.
"He's quite skilled. I shouldn't elaborate but we play tight competitions," she mentioned.
Kai explained that Trump, unable to come, advised her: "Just stay calm."
"My grandpa practically advised me to play and relax," she explained.
"In my eyes, he's just a normal grandpa. He can't make it for the tournament. He's busy with presidential duties, making him somewhat preoccupied."
Being non-professional, Kai has played in a mere three competitions in 2024 and has the 461st position in AJGA rankings.
Yet she can seek guidance from 15-time major champion, in a relationship with her mother.
"He represents the greatest golfer in the world," Kai stated.
"Additionally, he's an even better person. He suggested me to go out there, relax, and go with whatever happens."
She'll challenge several top competitors in professional golf at this tournament, such as second-ranked Nelly Korda, England's Charley Hull, professional Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.
Officials commented that involving Kai brings the sport to new audiences, particularly reaching youth audiences.
Kai maintains substantial online presence and just introduced her own apparel and wellness label.
Her first tee time at 17:30 GMT.
