The Reform UK leader Accuses Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling children that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
During an event for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.
“I expect a walkout by educators soon after securing a victory,” he remarked in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this negative culture.”
Reacting to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his political career on coded rhetoric and now, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their unions for a fight,” Kebede stated.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”
The party, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and seems not to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.
Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.
During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I will follow through.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
